Another Sears kit house hits the market — the 1,574-square-foot home was the Sears Westly model. Burke talks about the house:

“It’s a compact home that feels bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. It has trees around it, but none so close that they’re a threat to the house. It has good natural light and cross breezes, so it’s very comfortable. The house is situated near the road so that the back is very private and backs up to woods.

"There are hardwood floors throughout the house. In 1992, we added a hip dormer off the back of the house, giving us more headroom in the bedrooms. I like to cook, so when I have friends over, they gather in the kitchen. The eating area off the kitchen is surrounded by six very tall windows that almost give you the feeling you’re outdoors.

"The living room fireplace is flanked by nice one-over-one windows. There’s a south-facing porch in the front of the house. It’s nice to sit, have coffee and read the paper in the morning out there. In the past five years, the heating system was converted to propane, and the roof is only 4 years old. The house is about a mile from the Greenport ferry.”
