A St. James home built by the same man who constructed the historic St. James General Store is on the market for $599,000.
The five-bedroom, house with two bathrooms and a half-bath was built by Ebenezer Smith in 1853 and is next door to the general store, which he built four years later, says Bonnie Glenn of Coach Realtors, the listing agent.
"There are many updates inside, but the house still has the charm of the old yesteryear," Glenn says.
It has its original hand-carved wood door and a mahogany sitting porch. Also original is the wide-planked pine flooring throughout the house.
Updated features include Andersen windows, plumbing, roof, the electric system and eat-in kitchen.
The home, which is on a 0.83-acre lot, has an in-ground pool with a Jacuzzi.
The first floor has a separate area with its own bedroom and bathroom, Glenn said.
