You don’t have to live in Huntington Town to attend next week’s free seminar on saving your home.

The title says it all -- “Hope for Homeowners: Managing Money in Tough Times and Taking Positive Steps to Avoid Foreclosure” – and housing counselors from various nonprofits will be at hand.

Homeowners can get free evaluations and advice on their situations with counselors.

The seminar starts at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 28 at St. Hugh of Lincoln Roman Catholic Church in Huntington Station. It’s at 21 E. Ninth St., but the entrance is on New York Avenue.

Topics will include ways to modify loans, loan modifications through the federal program, debt management, ways to save money and more.

It’s being hosted by the town and spearheaded by Councilwoman Glenda Jackson. “Many people are losing their life savings and have already lost or are in danger of losing their incomes,” she said in a statement.

The nonprofits scheduled to attend are the Community Development Corp. of Long Island, the Family Service League, Housing Help, the Long Island Housing Partnership and Long Island Housing Services.
