In the 1920s, the family that once owned the Stern's department store built this California Mediterranean-style Colonial in Glen Head, now on the market for $795,000.
"Mr. Stern had gone to Southern California and loved the architecture," says listing agent Philip Comito of Daniel Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty. "He was going to do a whole development like that, but stopped building because of the Depression."
Building stopped after only eight stucco homes were built in Glen Head's Hill Terrace section, where the streets are named for U.S. presidents.
The three-bedroom, two-bathroom house has a living room with French doors that open up to a patio that overlooks specimen plantings.
