Bold, modern interior design has long been in vogue, and this year's Hampton Designer Showhouse has a trendy exterior to match. A seven-bedroom, modern barn-style house in Bridgehampton, built by Christopher Tufo Design & Build and on the market for $5.795 million, will showcase the work of more than two dozen high-end designers in the annual fundraising event for Southampton Hospital that begins July 26.

"The modern barn-style has become popular," says Hedy Tufo of Sotheby's International Realty, who is listing the property built by her husband.

On the outside is vertical tongue-and-groove cedar and horizontal cedar clapboard. Inside, there are stacked stone fireplaces made with European marble in the great room, family room, master bedroom and master bathroom. There's also a finished lower level with an en suite bedroom, playroom, exercise room and movie theater. There are eight bathrooms and a half-bath in all.

Outside is a bluestone patio with a sleek gray stucco fireplace, a heated gunite pool and a pool house.

Tufo says that while the furniture the designers choose will not be included in the sale of the home, a lot of the design features, including wallpaper and the kitchen backsplash, have been donated and can stay.
