If you want a house with a master bath
Whether modest or grand, having a master bath is a "feeling of luxury," says Fran Covello of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty, who is marketing the Syosset house at right. "It's where you get ready for the day or where you go to wind down." And the best part -- it's private. "You don't have to share it with your children or guests," says Shawn Davis of Realty Connect USA, who is marketing the Nesconset house featured here.
Some master baths are basic. Think shower, sink, commode, while others are spacious and designed with imported materials, roomy steam showers, whirlpool tubs and self- flushing heated commodes with bidet functions.
Either way, master bathrooms add value to a home and sometimes aid in a quicker sale, say real estate agents.

When this now-4,200- square-foot Colonial was renovated about six years ago, the owners had it expanded to create a private level for the master suite. The master bathroom received special attention. About 400 square feet, the room features a radiant-heat marble floor with granite inlay, towel warmers, a separate shower with multiple heads and a BainUltra Air Tub. The tub is said to be especially sanitary since, after use, it blows air through the pipes to expel excess water. The design also incorporates a dual vanity imported from France, as well as a custom crystal chandelier that hangs from the cathedral ceiling. In addition to a commode, there is a bidet and a urinal. The master bedroom offers two walk-in closets and a fireplace. There are another five bedrooms and four full baths. Of 11 rooms, the family room has a bar with a dual wine refrigerator to store red and white, which are cooled at different temperatures. Other amenities include a second fireplace, wood floors, a designer kitchen, an indoor and outdoor surround sound speaker system and an outdoor heated in-ground pool surrounded by pavers. The property is 70 by 126 feet. Seth Levy, Shawn Elliott Luxury Homes & Estates, 516-528-1737
