While Manhasset has much to offer, two of its biggest selling points, local real estate agents say, are the school district and the community's proximity to Manhattan -- about 17 miles.

Manhasset is "one of the best school districts," says resident Adele Kuczmarski of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Manhasset. As for commuting, you can arrive at Penn Station by train in only 27 minutes, adds resident Deirdre O'Connell of Daniel Gale Sotheby's International Realty in Manhasset.

This upscale community is home to North Shore University Hospital, part of the North Shore-Long Island Jewish Health System.

The area known as Miracle Mile along Northern Boulevard is something of a shoppers' paradise. High-end retailers, including Giorgio Armani, Prada and Cartier, can be found in the tony Americana, while other popular retailers are nearby.

The greater Manhasset area includes the villages of Munsey Park, Plandome, Plandome Heights, Plandome Manor, North Hills and some of Flower Hill.

House hunters looking in Manhasset proper will find mostly Colonials. There are many clubs and organizations to join, too. "It's a tight-knit community," Kuczmarski says.
