The Northport Historical Society doesn’t let in just any old house – they check your proof of age. A new village law requires a home to be 100 years old or more in order to qualify for historic preservation. Not sure how old your place is? Learn to dig up the details of your domicile when Huntington town historian Roberty Hughes presents “Tracing the History of Your House.”

On April 11, Hughes will share tips for unearthing your home’s past using county records, old newspapers and photo archives as part of the Northport Historical Society’s 2010 Speaker Series.

The program will begin at 2 p.m. in the meeting room of the Northport Historical Society’s Museum. The museum is open from 1 to 4:30 p.m. Tuesdays through Sundays. A donation of $3 is suggested for all programs.
