2009 Hampton Designer Showhouse under contract

The 2009 Hampton Designer Showhouse in Water Mill has gone into contract for close to its $8.495 million asking price, says listing agent Scott Strough of Strough Real Estate Associates.
The buyer works in private retail, he says.
Nearly two dozen designers have decorated the newly constructed house for the annual event, which raises funds for Southampton Hospital. "I definitely believe the job they did helped to provide insight into what you can do to a home like that," Strough says.
The 8,000-square-foot house has six bedroom suites and 10-1/2 bathrooms, as well as a finished basement, a two-story pool house and a three-car garage. The 1.5-acre property is next to a nature preserve.
The house was built by Joe Farrell of the Farrell Building Co., who built and lives in Sandcastle in Bridgehampton.
The show house ends Sept. 6, and the closing is expected to take place shortly thereafter.
