Brooks Brothers fans will flip when they see “the luggage room” at the Designers’ Showcase 2009, which opens Saturday in Upper Brookville. Everything in the space — the curtains, the wallpaper, the luggage, the throws, the lampshades, the boxes, even the chair — is covered in about 20 of the clothier’s patterns. And all of it is for sale.

The plan is to create a Brooks Brothers line for the home, says Muttontown resident Debra Del Vecchio, company co-owner and senior vice president of operations. “It just seems to be an extension of Brooks Brothers,” she says, pointing out that the company already makes wallpaper and will launch a new fabric line next year. The company is “in the very early stages of finding someone to work with, design and manufacturer” such a line, she adds.

Del Vecchio, who owns the company with husband and Brooks Brothers chairman and chief executive, Claudio, is on the leadership council for the Hauppauge-based Mentoring Partnership of Long Island, which will receive a portion of the show house proceeds. She worked on the room with Paul Sadowski, head visual director for Brooks Brothers’ 350 stores around the world.

Some of the highlights — a patchwork quilt of silk tie remnants ($2,000), chandelier lampshades of blue and white shirt fabrics ($80 each) and a navy cashmere chair tufted with brass blazer buttons ($2,000).
