Glen Cove Colonial doubles as dental office on 'Doctors Row'

When Roberta Cerasi of Glen Key Realty listed this 1935 home in Glen Cove, she included not only a vintage photo of the house in black and white but also a current photo of the house in black and white.

“When the house was built, the photos were black and white or sepia,” says Cerasi. “I wanted that aesthetic to come through, to say, ‘This is a house with history.’ ” The virtual tour for the home — listed for $881,000 — includes a nice cross-fade transition of both pictures.

The current owners of the seven-bedroom, four-bath Colonial, dentist Beverly Granger and her husband, cardiologist Aloysius Cuyjet, bought the home from her parents in 1983.

In previous years, significant renovations were done, removing the front porch and adding professional space (both of Dr. Granger’s parents were dentists) and a master bedroom. It is on 1.20 acres in the “doctors row” area of Glen Cove.

The zoning is “converted residence,” which means that professional space is allowed but the owners have to live there as well.

Amenities include three fireplaces (the kitchen fireplace is used for winter barbecuing), a swimming pool and a two-car garage. The third floor has two bedrooms, a full bath and a third room currently used as a media room. A doorway at the bottom of the stairway creates private quarters for guests.
