Huntington Station listing boasts deluxe outdoor kitchen
Most homes for sale on Long Island that are priced less than $425,000 and feature an outdoor kitchen are probably nothing like what you’ll find in Domenic and Tiziana Cacace’s Huntington Station backyard.
The outdoor entertaining area is on about 1,500 square feet, including pavers and a kitchen, a dining area, a covered sitting area and a pool. The kitchen has a granite U-shaped workspace, a wood-burning pizza oven, a wood-burning grill, a gas-burning grill, a full sink, a single-burner stovetop, a refrigerator and two storage closets.
But it’s the pizza oven, made of firebricks, stucco and cultured stone, that gets the most attention.
Dominic Cacace, 33, built the complex himself. It took him 1½ years to complete, fitting it in on weekends and evenings after his regular job running his marble and granite fabricating business.
The four-bedroom, three-bath Colonial has a legal accessory apartment. The second-floor two-bedroom apartment is rented. The Cacaces and their two children live on the main floor and the finished basement, which has a play area, a workout area, a laundry room, storage, a full bathroom and an outside entrance.
The first and second floors were totally renovated after a lightning zap to the back of the house during Tropical Storm Irene caused the second-floor water heater to leak water into the main level.
The house is listed for $419,999, and the agents are AnnMarie Portaro and Jennifer Lien of Charles Rutenberg Realty.
