If you let your imagination wander as you look at this home, one thing becomes clear quickly: The glory days of this home must have been pure magnificence.
The nine-bedroom, four-plus-bathroom home built in 1878 was recently placed on the market for $1.5 million.
“It’s a home that needs to be brought back to fabulous," says Sandra Carlberg of Eric G. Ramsay Associates in Bay Shore, who is co-listing Diane Betz. "The living room is like a ballroom, and there’s a feeling of history throughout the home.”
The lot size is a subdividable 2.83 acres, and a large two-story carriage house is on rear property.
Although the 5,800-square-foot home needs updating, there are many interesting architectural elements. The unique inlaid wood flooring pattern varies from room to room. Three beautiful stained glass windows top off the last flight of stairs from the foyer below (originally called the warming room). The interior and exterior archways, and there are many, are grand and glorious as well as the seven fireplaces.
