Montauk home is a cottage with swing
Laid-back living is key at this Montauk cottage, which is on the market for $850,000. Not only is it three blocks from the beach, but the home comes with its own indoor swing.
The swing -- made of rope and padded plank -- hangs in an open area of the home where the kitchen and living room are located. It rests on a block when not in use.
“It’s just a fun thing -- I love it,” says homeowner Mary Guarino, who decided to hang it up after her husband died. She says it helps to turn the kitchen into a gathering place, one her grandchildren especially enjoy.
“It fits, it’s cool, and just adds to your Montauk oasis,” says Susan Cincotta of Daniel Gale Sotheby’s International Realty, the listing agent.
Built in 1969, the home includes beach rights and an outdoor shower. It is surrounded by gardens with a hammock and two decks accessed from the house through new French doors.
Inside, the house has an open floor plan with cathedral ceilings. A wood-burning brick fireplace graces the living room, flanked by built-in shelving.
There are two bathrooms, and three bedrooms, two of which lead out to the front deck through new sliding glass doors. An artist’s studio on the ground floor can be used as an office or den.
