Rich Cribs: Hampton Bays waterfront homes, and more
This waterfront Hampton Bays property, which is on the market for $3,695,000, has three separate and entirely unique houses.
The main house, which has four bedrooms and 3.5 baths, is a formal live-in house. Right next to it is a former boathouse that was converted into an open and airy five-bedroom, four-bath waterfront home.
Tucked away on the other side of the property is a smaller cottage. This three-bedroom, two-bath ranch has the feel of a vacation home, especially since it comes with a granite pool and spa. All of the houses were renovated in 2008 and come with oak flooring and upgraded moldings.
Between the three houses, there’s a multitier deck, patio and porch. The property is on the Shinnecock Bay and comes with sandy beaches, a private boat dock and a tennis court. “You have a little bit of everything,” says Ronald Guzas, the real estate broker from Atlantic Shores Realty who is representing this listing. -- Elizabeth Gyori
SANDS POINT SOUND VIEW. A midcentury modern house in Sands Point, on the market for $2,495,000, reflects both the innovations and trepidations of that era.
There’s the full sliding “pocket” wall that opens up the space between the living room and adjacent library -- and then there’s the bomb shelter, repurposed by the current owners into a wine cellar.
Designed in 1952 by architect Victor Civkin for landscape artist Nathaniel Hess, the house has two terrarium rooms that were used for cuttings. Listing agent Edith Katz of Laffey Fine Homes says there are “waves of rhododendron and azalea” plantings across the three-acre-plus property.
The home has six bedrooms and 5.5 baths, and it offers views of Long Island Sound looking out to the Execution Rocks Lighthouse.
Other features include an eat-in kitchen with a raised hearth, family room with a large stone slab fireplace, formal dining room, heated in-ground pool and an attached three-car garage. The property comes with beach rights. -- Virginia Dunleavy
