Rich Cribs: Orient property with vineyard, and more
ATTENTION WINE CONNOISSEURS. If you’ve ever dreamed of owning a vineyard, 2013 may be your year. For $6 million, that is.
That’s the asking price of a 26-acre beachfront property in Orient. One piece of the property has an 11.5-acre vineyard with four grape varietals -- Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, merlot and chardonnay. The owner produces wine for himself and for his friends, says listing agent Erica Stype McKenzie of Andrew Stype Realty in Mattituck.
Of 22.1 acres, 16 acres can be subdivided. One of the most impressive features, says McKenzie, is its 922 feet of waterfront on Long Island Sound.
“You can see Connecticut, the Hamptons, Shelter Island and from certain spots, Plum Island. . . . You can also view the Sound and the Peconic Bay all at once.” The house -- a 3,528-square-foot Contemporary -- boasts floor-to-ceiling windows with water views, two fireplaces and, not surprising, a wine cellar. There are five bedrooms and 4½ bathrooms. Steps to the beach are accessible from this lot. South of the vineyard is the third parcel: It’s just shy of an acre and it’s buildable. -- Lisa Doll Bruno
ADOBE-STYLE IN UPPER BROOKVILLE. If you’re longing for the Southwest, there’s an Upper Brookville ranch listed for $1,398,000 that might fit the bill.
Built in 1980, the stucco home has four bedrooms and 4½ baths.
The living room has a 16-foot-high ceiling, large adobe-style wood-burning fireplace and floor-to-ceiling windows. Terra-cotta tile floors run through the living room, dining room and eat-in kitchen.
The homeowners chose this style home because of the many family vacations spent visiting the Southwest. “They love that theme,” says Aileen Murstein, listing agent along with Ronit Macanian and Alyce Tucker of Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage.
Other features include a master bedroom with his and hers bathrooms, skylight, attached one-car garage and a heated in-ground pool on just over two acres. -- Virginia Dunleavy
