Rolling Stone publisher Jann Wenner closed Oct. 16 on a Montauk house following a bidding war on the oceanfront property, real estate sources say.
The eight-bedroom, 6.5-bath three-story home is a half-mile away from the house formerly owned by Bernard Madoff, one source says.
The house originally went on the market for $9.5 million, but after several offers were made above the asking price it was adjusted to $14.9 million, a source says.
Wenner and partner, fashion designer Matt Nye, bought the property for $11.975 million, a source says.
The house is 6,300 square feet.
Krae Van Sickle of The Corcoran Group represented the seller; Paul Brennan of Prudential Douglas Elliman Real Estate represented the buyers. Neither could be reached for comment.
