Source: Huma Abedin helped Clintons find Hamptons rental
The Clintons are renting an oceanview estate in the Hamptons the last two weeks of August, says a source close to the real estate transaction.
Huma Abedin, longtime aide to Hillary Clinton, brokered the deal, says the source. The wife of former congressman Anthony Weiner, who is hoping to win the Democratic nod to run for New York City mayor amid a sexting scandal, is expected to spend time at the sprawling six-bedroom, 7.5-bath Sagaponack home, the source says.
Former President Bill Clinton and his wife, the former secretary of state, will move into the 8,000-square-foot manse this weekend, says the source. They are paying $200,000 for their two-week stay, according to real estate records.
The Washington power couple had summered at an East Hampton rental. This year, "they looked at a lot of houses" before deciding on this one, says the source. They chose it for its "beachy" feel, the source says.
"The whole premise was for them to have a Hamptons environment ... like they were coming to a destination close to the water," says the source.
The house is a block away from the beach on a private flag lot, says the source. The 3.5-acre property includes a heated pool and pool house as well as a gym and "terrific places of solitude" for the husband and wife to relax, the source says.
