This Tudor, built in 1936, has three bedrooms and 1½ bathrooms and is on a 50-by-123-foot lot. Rella has owned the house for almost 12 years and has done extensive improvements. She was asked what she likes most about the home:
“My favorite aspect is that it looks like a little cottage . . . There are so many . . . big Tudors and mansions. It’s cozy. It’s charming. The masterpiece is the rear 750-square-foot mahogany deck . . . The way the property sloped down, I said, ‘How do I make this functional?’
"So I bought [an above-ground] pool and built a deck around it. I entertain out there, and people say it’s like a little bistro. When I have a party, I bring up four-top catering tables to the deck and can have a dinner for, like, 30 people. There are so many upgrades . . . a new brick driveway, bluestone stoop and mahogany front door . . . new roof and gutters . . . sprinkler and security systems. And I did the impossible and installed central air-conditioning . . . I put in a new oil burner. I opened the wall between the kitchen and the dining room.
"The kitchen has new cabinets, counters and appliances and new subflooring and ceramic tile over that . . . I either refinished or replaced all the interior doors. All new windows and window treatments. The electric has been upgraded. The pool is heated and can be heated to spa temperature. There’s storage under the deck. The only thing the house needs is a new fence and a shed."
