A Bohemia-based nonprofit has won $650,000 in federal grants to help overcome housing discrimination.
The Department of Housing and Urban Development awarded the two grants to Long Island Housing Services Inc. Long Island home buyers hurried to lock in low interest rates last month, giving the housing market a burst of activity.

When the Northern State Parkway was built in the 1930s, this circa 1890 Colonial was in the way. So the original owners -- the Post family -- had it moved by horse and wagon to its current location on Jefferson Street in Westbury, says the current homeowner.
