Source: Clintons scouting for new home in Hamptons
Bill and Hillary Clinton are touring luxury properties for sale in the Hamptons, possibly to buy, a real estate source with knowledge of the potential deal said.
The former president and outgoing secretary of state, who own homes in Chappaqua and Washington, D.C., have rented East End houses on the water the past several years. "Clearly, we know they like the ocean," the source said.
They have stayed at homes in Bridgehampton and East Hampton. The latest was a home on Lily Pond Lane in East Hampton, where the Clintons have summered twice. Famous residents in the area have included Jon Bon Jovi, Martha Stewart, Steven Spielberg, Helen Mirren and Chevy Chase.
"They're looking around," the source said. "It's a pretty good assumption they are likely to continue living in those areas."
Their handlers have checked out some new properties, but the Clintons "have come out to look themselves," the source said.
They are working with an agent from the Hamptons-based Saunders & Associates real estate firm.
