THE SCOOP The central location and proximity to highways, beaches, hospitals and schools are responsible for much of the appeal of Centereach, says Rita Tsoukaris of RE/MAX Integrity Leaders. The styles of the homes in the 8-square-mile hamlet are varied, and Tsoukaris says she sees mostly first-time home buyers exploring the area.
Centereach also is home to the nationally recognized Middle Country Public Library. It is the largest library on Long Island as well as the busiest, and it has been voted No. 1 multiple times in the five-star rating group for libraries with budgets of $10 million to $29 million by Library Journal. "We are widely recognized as a library of the future. . . . We really take care of our patrons and believe in customer service," says Sandy Feinberg, library director.
RE/MAX agent Jane Zilpelwar adds that Centereach is a melting pot: "Children of different nationalities love the area because they feel like they are accepted." Because of the many retail outlets along Middle Country Road, which traverses the community, shopping is easy. Walmart, Big Lot, Dollar Tree and Modell's all have a presence along the busy, four-lane road.
