Time on the market: Since Sept. 10

Listing agent: While the home is on Multiple Listing, the Waskos are selling on their own and can be reached at 516-804-6202.

Why it's for sale: Andy, 59, who is retired from the auto industry, and Kathy, 55, a retired teacher, say their son is in college and they are now downsizing.

The Waskos raised their son in this 1,800-square-foot home, which they bought in 1994. Kathy starts:

"We have a large 18-by-14-foot all-glass sunroom off the kitchen. We do a lot of entertaining and have had holiday dinners in there. We use it nearly year-round.  . . . We were touched by Sandy as was everyone in our neighborhood. The kitchen and bathrooms are new since Sandy. Our neighborhood is Nassau Shores. We have a beautiful bay-front park with a fishing dock. We're within walking distance to a golf course.  . . . We have central air conditioning and in-ground sprinklers and a vegetable garden with irrigation.  . . . This house was one of the childhood homes of the Baldwin brothers."

And Andy adds: "We have an open kitchen with a large island. There's ceramic tile flooring in the living room and into the kitchen and hallway. There are hardwood floors in the den area. The three bedrooms have wall-to-wall carpeting and the bathrooms, of course, are tiled. We have a large deck in the backyard with a natural gas grill hookup."
