@Newsday

"The open floor plan was a big selling point for us, and the vaulted ceiling and two walk-in closets in the master bedroom are a real treat. There's laminated wood floors throughout most of the home. We spend a lot of time in the living room with the gas-burning fireplace. We also have a natural gas connection for our patio grill. . . . We're original owners and put in crown and base molding throughout the first floor and box molding going up the stairs. We were planning to stay and recently put in new stainless steel kitchen appliances, and both bathrooms have new vanities. We put in a nice 15-by-15-foot brick patio and a new brick walkway and front porch. . . . The complex is meticulously maintained. I was on the board for 5.5 years. The exterior maintenance of each home and the landscaping is taken care of by the homeowner's association. . . . We're a half-mile from major shopping stores. There's an extensive social calendar of clubhouse activities and trips. The place is attractive to people looking to retire, but reluctant to go into [housing with] attached walls. This is the best of both worlds."
