@Newsday

"The backyard is surrounded by woods. It's like you're in the country. Most people say, 'Wow, it's not what we expected.' It's very private and quiet, and we're on a dead-end block. The backyard has a deck overlooking a huge wooded lot. There are trees all around us. You can't see your neighbors. . . .

"We split our time between the living room and the den. We're in the den in the winter with a fire going. In the summer, we spend more time in the living room with the four windows and cross ventilation. . . .

'Most of the improvements have been made in the past five years. We added a bathroom and updated the other two bathrooms. We refinished the kitchen cabinets and put in a new floor and new appliances. . . .

"We always had wood floors downstairs and carpet upstairs. We redid the upstairs with oak floors, including the stairway. The staircase is an eyepopper when you walk in. We added crown molding throughout the house."
