House-made gyro is just one of several Hellenic specialties featured at The Greek, newly launched in Massapequa Park. The little eatery, which has only three tables, is mainly a takeout operation under the same ownership as The Good Life in Massapequa Park and The Phoenix in Seaford. Jon Cano is executive chef for all three restaurants, said co-owner Peter Mangouranes, who added that everything served — except for the pita bread — is made “from scratch.”

The gyro, Mangouranes said, is done with marinated American leg of lamb that’s sliced, stacked on a spit and rotisserie-roasted before being shaved off and served on a pita sandwich ($7). Also on the menu: an appetizer of charred octopus ($13), chipotle hummus ($7), a vegetable pita made with eggplant salad, hummus, olives, mixed greens and feta ($7) and an entree of pastitsio ($13).

The Greek is at 1021 Park Blvd., Massapequa Park, 516-797-2000.
