Election Day blues raise hopes for Suffolk GOP
Until Election night, Patchogue's popular Democratic Mayor Paul Pontieri was by far his party's leading contender for State Assembly in a vacancy that arose after Assemb. Patricia Eddington's win as Brookhaven Town clerk.
Minutes before polls closed, Pontieri said he was "very interested" in running a special election early in 2010. By Thursday, he withdrew.
