Community group Brothers and Sisters Who Care encourages safe surrenders to police

THE BRONX - A local community group is aiming to bridge the gap between civilians and police officers by encouraging safe surrenders.

Organizers from Brothers and Sisters Who Care say they want to train others and make the process of turning oneself in as informed and seamless as possible.

Program head Carlton Berkley, who has been a police officer for 20 years, says he wants to implement the program citywide.
