Have a problem with getting up early for a tee time? During World War II, golfers faced a more serious difficulty: gasoline rationing.

To cope with the problem, horse-drawn wagons picked up golfers at the Farmingdale Long Island Rail Road station and shuttled them to Bethpage State Park.
