A Fixture on Main Street in Bay Shore
ULMSCHNEIDER'S drug store, which appears in the photo above, taken around 1900, was a fixture on Main Street in Bay Shore.
The store, which included an ice cream parlor, was originally located on the south side of Main Street, as it appears in the old photo.
It subsequently moved to the north side of Main Street, where it remained popular with teenagers until around 1930, according to Frank Manhardt, president of the Bay Shore Historical Society.
