Strolling the Boardwalk
In the 1930s, when the earlier of these two pictures was taken, the quarter-mile-long boardwalk at Sunken Meadow State Park was one of the facility's main attractions.
The boardwalk was replaced first in the 1950s, when the width of the boardwalk was doubled, and it was extended to three times its original length.
In the 1980s, the boardwalk was rebuilt again, using a hard Brazilian wood. At the same time, aluminum railings replaced wooden ones.
