Second House. This 1746 farmhouse, the second house built in Montauk, was used by early herders; five rooms were later decorated by Victoria magazine. Montauk Highway, Montauk. Hours: 10 a.m to 4 p.m., Saturday and Sunday in June; same hours Thursday through Tuesday, July through September. Fee: $2, $1 under 12.

Third House. Built in 1749, it was used by herders. The house was rebuilt in the early 1800s and became a restaurant in the 1950s. Theodore Roosevelt and his Rough Riders recuperated there after the Spanish-American War. In Montauk County Park, Montauk. Open daily 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., May 26 through September, then weekends to Oct. 31; other times by appointment.
