Newsday Who Was Jeffrey Miller?
Who was Jeffrey Glenn Miller, the youth who died by a bullet at the age of 20 on the campus of a midwestern university?
To Daniel Schlitter, 21, he was the neighbor from across the street at 22 Diamond Dr., "quiet and intelligent . . . studious . . . hardly the rebellious type." But to Michael Ohrenstein, a friend of his at Plainview-Old Bethpage High School, where Miller was a senior last year, he was "floundering . . . looking for something . . . very disillusioned about his country," a youth who was "peace-loving but knew when you got pushed too far that you have to take a stand.
"Who was Jeffrey Glenn Miller? To Jacqueline Ribaudo, the girl from 19 Diamond Dr. with whom he used to play tennis, he was "a very nice fellow and very athletic . . ." and a person who was "never involved in trouble of any kind." To Jacqueline's father, Peter, the youth who was killed in a place called Kent, Ohio, was "bright, on the go . . . a little on the aggressive side, but not mischievous . . . very polite."
