Police reports from Commack, Dix Hills, Greenlawn, Huntington, Huntington Station and Melville

Commack A Beechwood Lane resident reported May 27 that vandals damaged a children's playlet in her yard.

A sideview mirror was broken May 27 on a Alero on Gaymore Lane.

Dix Hills Police reported May 25 that a fire was set on the playground of the Ostego Elementary school on Otsego Avenue.

A burglary was reported May 26 at a house being built on White Birch Drive. The police report said entry was made through the back door and tools were stolen.

Police reported that a fire was set on the LIPA power lines property on Baldwin Path May 27.

Greenlawn A resident on Boulevard Avenue reported a burglary May 23. The police report said entry was made through a back window and tools were taken from the garage.

Huntington

A burglary was discovered at the Classy Coffee shop on Clinton Avenue May 23. The owner said money was taken. The police report said the front door was broken to gain entry.

A woman told police her purse with her money and credit cards in it was stolen May 24 at the Artful Dodger restaurant on New Street.

An American flag was taken along with a wreath and banner from a house on Skunk Hollow Road May 25.

A woman shopping at the Best Buy store on Walt Whitman Road said her wallet with credit cards in it was stolen May 25.

Huntington Station Money and electronics were taken during a burglary May 25 at a house on Town House Road East.

A Central Islip man was arrested May 26 and charged with the theft of a 1995 Mitsubishi Montero on Academy Place. The man was also charged with a DWI. The police report did not indicate if the owner of the car knew the person who took the auto.

A resident on East 17th Street told police May 27 that money was missing from his safe.

Melville Construction equipment was reported stolen May 27 from a house being built on Old South Path.

Police reported May 27 that three tractor trailers full of steel owned by the E. W. Howell Company were stolen on Broadhollow Road.
