Police probing Commack computer theft seek help
Photos of possible witness in theft of computers
Suffolk police detectives on Thursday asked for the public's help identifying a possible witness to a burglary and theft of two laptop computers that occurred several months ago at a Commack software company.
Second Squad detectives released two surveillance photos of the witness, who is wanted for questioning in connection with the burglary at Innovative Applied Sciences, 6080 Jericho Tpke., Commack.
The photos were taken in an interior hallway at the building during the weekend in question, sometime between 3 p.m. March 7 and 9:30 a.m. March 10.
Someone forced open the front door of the company's suite and removed the laptops, valued at $1,500.
The surveillance photos show a clean-shaven young white man who appears to be in his teens or early 20s, with short dark hair. He is wearing blue jeans faded at the knees, white sneakers and a zippered gray or silver jacket with dark cuffs and dark highlights along the front, sides and shoulders.
Anyone who recognizes the man in the photos, or has information about this crime, is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All calls will be kept confidential and the caller will be eligible for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to an arrest.
