Spring is here and that can only mean the Town of Huntington's annual tulip festival is just weeks away.

The eighth annual flower extravaganza is set for Sunday, May 4 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Heckscher Park in Huntington.

Event officials are looking for volunteers help with the setup and breakdown of the event and to distribute festival brochures to visitors during the festivities. This free, family-oriented, floral celebration is held annually at Heckscher Park, which has been enhanced by the planting of thousands of tulips in beds throughout the park.

In addition to the festival's main attraction, the abundant bright tulips, there will be activity booths for children, live entertainment and a children's parade.

For more information, or for any person or community group that wants to volunteer, call 631-351-3099.

Volunteer application forms and other material can be downloaded from the town's Web site, town.huntington.ny.us/. Go to "Online Library" and click on "Cultural Affairs."
