Tax dollars slated for your neighborhood

The state Assembly and Senate have released lists of their member items, more than 10,000 special appropriations arranged for by local legislators for local projects. Click on your ZIP Code on the map at left to find the projects near you.

There are 170 such special spending measures for projects within the Town of Huntington, from $100,000 to run a robotics competition in Melville, to $2,500 to buy a special chair for the Eaton's Neck Fire District used to rescue people. The Huntington Lodge of the Loyal Order of Moose is getting $5,000 to upgrade lodge facilities for community activities, and the Harborfields Booster Club is getting the same amount to put dugouts at the varsity baseball complex at the high school.

In the 11721 ZIP Code, there is one project. In 11743, there are 60 projects, the largest number within the nine ZIP Codes.
