Congers kids explore new schools

Parents learned last week that 300 kids will have to go other schools.

CONGERS - Parents and students of Congers Elementary School visited and toured their new schools and classrooms today.

A community meeting was held last night for parents who found out just last week that their kids' school will not open for the school year.

Officials from the district deemed Congers Elementary unsafe for students and staff after large cracks appeared on the building.

The 300 elementary school students will now head to three other schools in the district, including Lakewood, Laurel Plains and New City.

There is no word yet on whether the old building will be fixed or torn down.
