Cops: Kingston man, 70, molested girl, 4

A 70-year-old Kingston man is free on $10,000 bail after being charged with molesting a 4-year-old girl, State Police at Middletown said Tuesday.

Salvatore P. Musso was arrested on April 26 and charged with felony first-degree sex abuse, as well as misdemeanor endangering the welfare of a child, police said, noting that they launched an investigation after getting a tip about Musso.

Musso was arraigned in Saugerties town court and held in Ulster County Jail until he posted bail and was released on May 2, said an officer at the jail's booking desk.

It's not clear why authorities delayed announcing Musso's arrest.

A man who answered the phone at Musso's Kingston home Tuesday said he was not Musso and declined to speak about the allegations.

There were no further details about the case immediately available, and the jail did not have information regarding Musso's attorney. The Ulster County Family Violence Unit, which operates under the direction of the Ulster County district attorney, as well as Troop F's Bureau of Criminal Investigation, did not return calls for comment.
