East Fishkill police arrested a Pawling man Tuesday and charged him with breaking into a woman's home in East Fishkill last month and sexually assaulting her.
Detectives said Kevin Cruzcontreras was trespassing behind a home on Route 52 in East Fishkill when police nabbed him.
Cruzcontreras was charged with several felonies, police said.
Detectives from several police agencies in Dutchess and Putnam counties pooled resources and ran surveillance on homes in the area after a break-in and assault in East Fishkill on Sept. 11. In that incident, police said, Cruzcontreras broke into a woman's home, robbed her and sexually assaulted her at knifepoint.
According to police, the suspect fled when the woman was able to break free and dial 911.
Police made the case a priority, and New York State Crime Stoppers stepped in to offer a $2,500 reward for tips leading to the suspect's conviction. It wasn't immediately clear whether police were working off tips when they caught Cruzcontreras on Tuesday.
Cruzcontreras, 19, was charged with first-degree robbery and burglary, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor menacing and trespassing, a violation.
He was arraigned in East Fishkill Town Court and was sent to Dutchess County Jail, where he was held in lieu $100,000 cash bail or $200,000 bond. He's scheduled for a court hearing Oct. 22.
