Cops: Woman punched in the face during attempted robbery by cab driver

Police say the 25-year-old took a livery cab from Jamaica station back to Long Island before 7 a.m. yesterday.

EAST MEADOW - A woman heading to Long Island says her cab driver punched her in the face and tried to rob her.

Police say the 25-year-old took a livery cab from Jamaica station back to Long Island before 7 a.m. yesterday.
 
The woman says the driver pulled over at Park Avenue and Waverly Place in East Meadow and then punched her in the face and tried to grab her handbag.

According to police, the woman then fell out of the silver SUV and the driver sped off. 

The woman suffered minor injuries, including a loose tooth.
