Crystal Bridges names new director
BENTONVILLE, Ark. - BENTONVILLE, Ark. (AP) — The Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art that's being built in Bentonville has named a new director.
Museum founder Alice Walton on Monday named Don Bacigalupi, who has led the Toledo Museum of Art since 2003. Bacigalupi (baa-chee-ga-loop'-ee) is to start at the museum in October.
Bob Workman announced in January he'd resign from the post because he did not want to stay on after the museum opened.
Bacigalupi specializes in post-World War II American art and popular culture. He was director of the San Diego Museum of Art before accepting the post in Toledo.
The museum is to open in 2011.
