A personal trainer from White Plains tried to solicit sex with a 13-year-old girl via email conversations with her stepfather -- not knowing the stepdad/daughter duo was actually an undercover investigator assuming those identities, officials said Thursday.
Edward Lee III, 30, of 11 Lake St., was charged with second-degree attempted rape, a felony, and second-degree attempted patronizing a prostitute, a misdemeanor, Westchester County District Attorney Janet DiFiore said in a news release.
From Sept. 16 to Wednesday, Lee, a self-employed personal trainer who rents an office on Central Avenue in Scarsdale, had a series of email conversations with the investigator from the Westchester DA's office, DiFiore said. Lee allegedly discussed various sex acts he would engage in with the 13-year-old in exchange for money and agreed on a meeting time and location in Scarsdale on Wednesday.
When Lee arrived, he paid the undercover "stepfather" $50 to have sex with the 13-year-old and was promptly arrested by investigators from the DA's office, DiFiore said.
Lee was arraigned Wednesday before Greenburgh Town Justice Delores Brathwaite and was sent to the county jail in lieu of $5,000 cash or bail bond, Greenburgh Town Court officials said. He's due back in court Friday.
No attorney information was immediately available for Lee on Thursday. A call to his home was not immediately returned.
Lee faces a maximum sentence of four years in state prison if convicted, DiFiore said.
