A Poughkeepsie man who worked as a parking attendant at the Dutchess County Fair is facing counterfeiting charges after passing fake bills at the fair, police said.

State Police at Rhinebeck say John McCabe, 34, gave five forged $20 bills to various Great American Midway vendors on Tuesday, the first day of the fair. The fair ends Sunday.

McCabe was charged with felony first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument.

He was arraigned in Rhinebeck Town Court and sent to Dutchess County jail in lieu of $20,000 cash bail or $40,000 bond. No further information on his court appearance or legal representation was available Friday afternoon.
