Eastchester DPW worker Nick Farella dies on the job

Nick Farella was crushed when the sanitation truck he was on backed up into a telephone pole on Water Street.

EASTCHESTER - An Eastchester DPW worker has died after being injured on the job last night.

Eastchester Town Supervisor Anthony Colavita tells News 12 that Nick Farella, 42, was standing on the back of a sanitation truck when it backed into a telephone pole on Water Street.

The five-year department veteran was crushed and later died Jacobi Medical Center in the Bronx.

Officials say the incident is being labeled as an accident.

He is survived by his wife and daughter.
