Eastchester police are searching for at least one man who broke into a home Friday afternoon on Stratford Road.

One burglar was spotted jumping out the second-floor window of the home, Eastchester Police Chief Robert Bonci said.

"There could have been two burglars and it seems to be consistent with other burglaries we've had recently in neighboring municipalities," he said.

Police do not know if the burglars stole anything from the house, Bonci said.

Eastchester police described one of the burglars as a man in his 40s, wearing blue jeans, work boots and a dark hooded sweatshirt, Bonci said. He was seen fleeing toward the Leewood Golf Course near the Bronx River Parkway.

Eastchester police were joined in the search for the burglars by police from New Rochelle, Yonkers, Scarsdale, and the Westchester County police, Bonci said.

New Rochelle and the county police deployed K-9 units in the search and the county police used a helicopter as well to try to track down the burglars.

"We called in those other agencies because that area borders on those municipalities," Bonci said.

Eastchester police asked anyone who did not need to be in the town's Green Knolls section to avoid the area as police conducted their search.
