Polls are open until 9 p.m. today in primary races for some of Long Island's congressional districts, as well as the Republican race for the right to take on Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.) this fall.

In the statewide U.S. Senate race, New York City attorney Wendy Long is vying with Nassau County Comptroller George Maragos and Rep. Bob Turner of Queens for the GOP nomination.

In Nassau's 4th Congressional District, Frank Scaturro of Hempstead is challenging Nassau Legis. Francis Becker (R-Lynbrook) for the Republican nomination. Scaturro also is pursuing a write-in campaign against Becker for the Conservative line.

In the 5th District, which includes Queens and parts of Nassau, Rep. Gregory Meeks is running in a Democratic primary against hip-hop artist Michael Scala, former City Councilman Allan Jennings and community activist Joseph Marthone.

Residents seeking information about their voting status or polling place, or who have other questions, can call their county board of election -- in Suffolk at 631-852-4500, or in Nassau at 516-571-2411.
