Actor and Rockland County resident Stephen Baldwin has been using a traffic infraction arrest as a springboard to tweet about his evangelical Christian faith.
Baldwin, a member of the acting clan that includes "30 Rock" star Alec Baldwin, was charged with driving with a suspended license, New York City police said Sunday.
The star of "The Usual Suspects" and "The Young Riders" was stopped by police at 5:15 p.m. Thursday after he made an illegal U-turn in his Lexus SUV on 125th Street, between Seventh and Lenox avenues in Manhattan, police said.
Two days later, Stephen Baldwin, of Upper Grand View-on-Hudson in Orangetown, tweeted: "Many suggestions about what I should do & what I knew & when. Obviously didn't know license was suspected. Just glad I know Jesus is the savior!"
Police gave the actor a desk appearance ticket and released him.
It was unclear why his license was suspended. A telephone message to his house was not returned.
On the day he was arrested, Stephen Baldwin also tweeted: "I saw a whole new level in the warfare today, intense but not compared to what's coming . . . Fear not. I am a weapon! Are you? 2 Cor 10."
Baldwin also wrote a 2006 book detailing his religious conversion, "The Unusual Suspect: My calling to the new hard-core movement of faith."
