Britain's Everett: Michael Jackson better off dead

British actor Rupert Everett apparently hasn't heard the old maxim about not speaking ill of the deceased, telling the British newspaper The Mirror that the King of Pop is probably better off dead.

"He was a freak," Everett said. "He looked like a character from 'Shrek.' He was a black to white minstrel. He was crucified by that court case when he was accused of child molestation - that killed him." (Everett knows "Shrek" well: he voiced the character of Prince Charming in the second and third films.)

Michael Jackson "personified the pain and anxiety of a black man in a slave country," Everett said. "We all watched as he changed from black to white. He was living performance art. I think it was fortuitous that he died."

Everett continued: "We're living in very strange times. We have Michael Jackson, a black man who has gone white, and we have President Barack Obama, who is a half-white man gone black."

In other Jackson news, sources in the family told tmz.com that even if Katherine Jackson gets custody of Michael's three kids, his older sister Rebbie will raise the children. The 59-year-old singer lives in Las Vegas with her husband of more than 20 years.
