Is Kanye West ready to put a ring on it?
People magazine is discounting a report, originating in the British tabloid The Sun, claiming that days after the birth of West and Kim Kardashian's daughter, the rapper proposed to the reality star with a black and tiger-stripe diamond ring and that the two planned to marry in Paris in September.
The magazine, citing an unidentified Kardashian friend, said that while marriage is on the agenda, no proposal has taken place.
The couple's child, North West, was born June 15 at Cedars Sinai Hospital in West Hollywood, Calif., after Kardashian, 32, was admitted the night before suffering from what many observers speculated was pre-eclampsia, a potentially severe condition in which a woman in late pregnancy develops swelling, high blood pressure and protein in the urine. The only treatment is delivery of the baby. Kardashian gave birth three to five weeks early.
Longtime friends Kardashian and West, 36, began dating in April 2012. West revealed the pregnancy during his Dec. 30 concert at the Revel Resort's Ovation Hall in Atlantic City, where, with Kardashian in the audience, he sang, "Now you having my baby." E! in a statement the next day said Kardashian was "about 12 weeks pregnant."
The couple announced on the June 2 episode of E!'s "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" that they were expecting a girl.
Neither has spoken publicly of an engagement. Kardashian's divorce from her second husband, Brooklyn Nets player Kris Humphries, became final just on June 4. Kardashian announced on Oct. 31, 2011, that she was divorcing Humphries after just 72 days of marriage.
